What is Oriole?

Frequently Asked Questions

More information about Oriole’s services:

What kind of terminal can I use to link to Oriole's services?

Users can connect to wireless service through a desktop or laptop computer or through their PDA, fitted with a Wi-Fi card. For some years now, most laptop computer manufacturers such as Apple, Compaq, Dell, IBM, Sanyo and others, include a Wi-Fi card in their machines. For those with an older model, a low-cost external antenna card, easy to install, will be available for sale or rent on campgrounds where Oriole is available. These antenna cards may also be purchased in most computer stores.

Do I need to reconfigure my computer or my PDA to link to Oriole’s wireless service?

Not at all. A homepage appears on the screen of the user’s machine when located in the area of a wireless access point and shows how to link, to authenticate and to immediately access the Internet.

Do I need to download an application?

No. No other application is necessary. The user needs an ordinary web browser and a wireless Ethernet network card (802.11b/g Wi-Fi). That’s all!

How do I connect?

Here are three simple steps to follow:

  • 1. When the user is in the vicinity of an Oriole access point, he turns on his computer or PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi card. As he launches his browser, a homepage will open, identifying the Oriole service and its access point, or the compatible wireless ISP in the area.
  • 2. The user fills in his username and password.
  • 3. The user receives a confirmation saying that he has successfully logged in and can access Internet.

That’s it!

What choice of payments do I have?

Users pay for the connection by credit card or by prepaid card. (Prepaid cards are available at campground office)

How do prepaid cards and general payment work?

Each prepaid card holds a username and a password. With this data, our system recognizes the user and the package he has selected, and grants access to the system. With a credit card, the user selects the package he wants and the system automatically grants him a username and a password.

Can the user check his Oriole account?

At any time, the user can access his account to check his user file or to add time.

Does the user have access to technical support?

Yes, technical support is available to the user 24/7, by calling 1-866-967-4266.
